Sudbury police arrest 18 year-old after investigating social media threat directed at school
Police say threats were aimed at Collège Notre-Dame
Greater Sudbury Police have made an arrest after threats in an Instagram post against students and staff at Collége Notre-Dame early Tuesday morning.
The post showed a firearm and made reference to a school shooting. It was under the account name "sch00lsh00ter767."
Both the account and post have since been deleted.
Police say the individual is believed to be responsible for the social media post, as well as the additional post under the account "cnd_is_sus" titled "CND KILL LIST".
In a news release, a spokesperson says about 5:30 p.m., detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division and Intelligence Unit, assisted by members of the Tactical Unit, arrested an 18-year old man from Greater Sudbury.
The man has been charged with criminal harassment and uttering threats.
Criminal investigators have applied for judicial search warrants and the investigation into this
incident is ongoing.
His name cannot be released at this time as the information has not yet been sworn to through the court process.
He will be held in custody pending an appearance in bail court.
