Police in Sudbury arrest two people, seize drugs and cash in traffic stop
Police say over $28,000 worth of illicit drugs were found after traffic stop
Two men have been arrested and charged with multiple offences following a traffic stop in Sudbury this week, said Greater Sudbury Police Services (GSPS) in a news release.
GSPS said shortly after 5:30 p.m. on December 23, 2024, an officer was patrolling in the area of Notre Dame Avenue when a vehicle was witnessed driving erratically. The officer pulled the vehicle over for a traffic stop.
Police said the driver did not have a valid driver's licence and an open bottle of alcohol was located within the driver's reach. Officers searched the individual and found a large sum of cash and over 280 grams of suspected cocaine.
Police then also located additional illicit drugs believed to be magic mushrooms, drug packaging materials and cash, as well as multiple knives. In total officers seized over $15,000.
A 54-year-old man was charged with multiple offences, including drug and weapons charges.
The passenger in the vehicle, a 49-year-old man, was charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.
