Work continues on the roll-out of a large-scale medical marijuana grow-op in Sudbury that was expected to open last spring.
The financial consultant with the company, known as 6-8-2 R-X Incorporated, said the grow-op will be located in the Walden Industrial Park.
Bob Bateman told CBC News last May the project was close to opening then, but it still does not have a licence.
That’s because they've been busy answering questions from Health Canada, he said.
But the owners, Trevor and Lynn Johnston, are determined.
“They're bright young folks who want to be there with a new opportunity for the community and for themselves,” Bateman said.
The owners are putting about $750,000 into a building in the industrial park over the winter.
The owners will “refurbish the building that will be occupied, prepare it for lighting, extreme heat and cooling requirements,” he said.
“There's a pretty significant investment involved.”
Bateman now estimates they'll be dispensing medical marijuana next summer.
