There was a close call for two men on Tuesday morning when their floatplane crashed on Whitewater Lake in Azilda.

There was a close call for two men in Greater Sudbury on Tuesday morning when their floatplane crashed on Whitewater Lake.

Sudbury Police were called to the lake around 8 a.m. after reports of a floatplane crash on the lake, near the community of Azilda.

Police said the plane was upside down and partially submerged in the water about a kilometre off shore.

Two men were sitting on one of the plane's pontoons awaiting rescue, police said.

The men were brought to shore and treated for minor injuries.

The investigation continues and the Transportation Safety Board and the Ministry of the Environment have been contacted, police said.
