Sudbury readers dig into Canada Reads book finalists
CBC's annual battle of the books is just around the corner!
Five Sudbury readers — all connected with the Greater Sudbury library — have read and reflected on the books that are in contention to win top spot in CBC's Canada Reads 2016.
- Mandy Lynn Lamarche has read Minister Without Portfolio by Michael Winter.
- Jodie Gladman has read The Hero's Walk by Anita Rau Badami.
- Tammy Deamicis has read Birdie by Tracey Lindberg.
- Anna Slusarczyk has read The Illegal by Lawrence Hill.
- Marley Lauro has read Bone and Bread by Saleema Nawaz.
Starting March 14-18, tune into Morning North at 8:10 a.m. to hear a new reader each day speak about her book, how it relates to her life and the theme of Starting Over.
These Sudbury readers are part of a larger national contest that features debates on the books.
The Canada Reads debates take place March 21-24 on CBC- TV, CBC Radio One, and online at cbcbooks.ca. Hosted by Gill Deacon, Canada Reads 2016 is all about "starting over." Five panellists — Adam Copeland, Clara Hughes, Bruce Poon, Vinay Virmani and Farah Mohamed — have chosen the Canadian books they feel best represent the trials and tribulations of making a new start in life, and will rigorously defend their choices.
