A Saskatoon detective constable is competing for the title of Canada's Smartest Person, a CBC TV program that bills itself as a competition series based on the theory of multiple intelligences.

Each week, four contestants take part in a series of challenges that involve "six areas of intelligence (linguistic, logical, visual, physical, musical and social) that redefine smart."

Chris Harris, 39, will be on next Sunday, Oct. 18.

"I like to do things that are a little bit out of my comfort zone," Harris said.

The detective constable added that one reason he was interested in competing was "to show that in my profession that intelligence is a huge component."

He said of the six types of intelligence that are tested on the program, his strength would be social intelligence.

"Definitely not the mathematical, logical or the musical."

Canada's Smartest Person airs Sundays at 8 p.m. CST.
