Saskatoon police used a Taser to subdue a man threatening to harm himself on Tuesday night.

Just after 7 p.m. CST, police said in a news release, police arrived at a home on the 300 block of 5th Avenue N. to arrest a man on an outstanding warrant.

When officers started talking to him, he threatened to harm himself, police said, leading police to use a Taser.

The man was arrested and taken to hospital as a precaution. He's now facing charges of break and enter and criminal harassment.

Saskatoon police will review the incident, as they do in every instance a Taser is used by officers.
