A carbon monoxide leak in the basement of a building at 130 Edinburgh Pl. briefly forced out residents Wednesday night.

People began noticing an odd smell after dinner and then called fire crews at 7:45 p.m. CST.

Investigators confirmed there was, indeed, an odd smell but that it was not natural gas. They evacuated the building.

Then they went floor by floor with an air quality monitor and did detect carbon monoxide. They traced it to the basement, and then the boiler room.

They discovered a faulty exhaust system to a boiler.

SaskEnergy repaired the boiler and people were allowed back into their suites. No one was hurt.
