Remai Modern renews commitment to open its doors in 2017
Construction issues have dogged art gallery for years
The Remai Modern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan says it will be opening its doors in 2017.
While an official opening date has not been revealed, the gallery has renewed its commitment to open its doors this year.
In January, a City of Saskatoon committee heard that construction of the interior of the building wasn't finished, and would be completed by mid-March. Once that happens, the gallery would need eight months to prepare the building.

Construction issues have plagued the project for years. The gallery was originally supposed to open last year, but a number of construction delays continue to pushed that date back.
On Wednesday, the Remai Modern got a donation of $400,000 from TD Bank for free arts programming in the gallery's main floor. The free programming will include art exhibitions and projects.
There are 8,000 works to bring into the building, galleries to be completed, and exhibitions to be installed.
Earlier this month, the gallery received $3 million from the federal government. That money will go toward finishing construction on the Marquee and Feature galleries.
