City continues annual event inviting dogs for a swim
It's the final day of pool season in Saskatoon and that means it's a day dedicated for dogs.
The annual tradition continues in 2016 with the city opening up Mayfair pool to its four-legged friends on the last day before all city-run pools close for the season.
Jody Hauta, with the city, said on Monday they had 200 dogs pre-registered for the event, surpassing last year's attendance.
"It's a chance for dog owners to come down and play in the water in a controlled setting. It's a good chance to get into the water and play," Hauta said. "This is the last day of the pool season so the dogs will be the last ones in there."
Service dogs were invited to swim starting at 11 a.m. CST with other dogs diving into the pool in one-hour slots up until 7 p.m.
The Saskatoon SPCA also hosted a fundraiser barbecue with all proceeds going towards SPCA programs.
