Dashboard camera captures 'epic' RCMP arrest in North Battleford, Sask.
RCMP say the suspect had warrants for his arrest
A man being taken into custody by North Battleford RCMP has been captured on a dashboard camera.
The video, entitled "Epic RCMP Takedown!" was posted online on Tuesday. It has already been viewed nearly 6,000 times on YouTube.
The footage shows a minivan rushing through an intersection and stopping. A plain-clothes officer runs out of the van and takes down a man on a bicycle by diving beside him. Another plain-clothes officer then grabs the suspect after he tries to run away.
The two officers hold the suspect down as multiple marked and unmarked police vehicles arrive from all directions.
RCMP said over the weekend they had received numerous complaints about a man being involved in criminal activity. After an investigation, the man was identified and police said he had existing warrants for his arrest.
On Monday, RCMP located the man but before they could arrest him he fled on a bicycle. The subsequent arrest was captured on the private dash camera and RCMP said they have obtained the footage to help with their investigation.
RCMP said the suspect was not injured during the arrest. One officer did injure his shoulder, but RCMP said he will make a full recovery.
