Conditional discharge, probation for man who harassed women in Saskatoon's Mayfair neighbourhood
Jithin Jose confronted women with racism, other verbal abuse

A man who admitted to confronting and threatening random women in Saskatoon's Mayfair neighbourhood in 2024 is not going to jail.
Jithin Jose, 27, was given a conditional discharge and six months probation after pleading guilty in mental health strategy court to uttering threats and criminal harassment.
The only condition on the probation order is that he not contact any of the victims.
One of the complainants previously told CBC that Jose would approach older, vulnerable women. She said that in her first encounter, in the Mayfair neighbourhood, he blocked her path on the sidewalk. CBC did not name the woman because she feared for her safety.
"Can I ask you a question?" he inquired.
"No," she replied.
She said he stepped aside and let her pass.
By the third time their paths crossed, he didn't waited for a response to his initial inquiry, she said.
"I attempted to walk around him and he immediately went into, 'I'm an immigrant,' and, 'why are all you women here..…'"
She said he became more and more intimidating and aggressive, despite no response.
"Included in the diatribe were the words racist, hateful, nasty, bitches."
