The Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan is moving forward in Saskatoon.

An official sod turning event was held on Friday afternoon to kick off construction.

The entire project, which includes an art gallery and underground parade, will cost about $94 million. It will also include 405 Picasso prints worth $20 million.

The federal and provincial governments have each committed about $13 million to the project.

The Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan is expected to be open in the spring of 2016.
