Woman charged with manslaughter in 2023 death of 3-month-old

On Saturday, Regina Police arrested and charged a woman in relation to the death of a three-month-old boy that happened back in 2023.

After an investigation into the death of a three-month-old boy, Regina Police Service have arrested a 23-year-old woman.

The incident happened at a home on the 1900 block of Halifax street on Aug. 16, 2023, at about 6:00 a.m. CST, according to a Saturday news release.

Police said they were called to the residence based on a report of a child not breathing, and once they arrived they found the baby lying on the floor, unresponsive.

First aid was provided until paramedics made it to the scene, but not long after, the three-month-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

As the result of an investigation done by RPS, Regina Children's Justice Centre and the Saskatchewan Coroner's Service, the 23-year-old woman was arrested and charged on Saturday.

Her first appearance on the charges of manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death is on Monday at the Regina Provincial Court.
