The Saskatoon Blades have set a club record of 14 wins in a row following a victory Friday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

A crowd of around 8,000 roared with approval after every home team goal, with the final score 7 - 4 in the WHL match-up.

Coach Lorne Molleken told CBC News he's pleased with the win.

"Our players should be very proud of what they accomplished here tonight," said Molleken. "Obviously to break a record that has been standing for so long is rewarding for them and they're very deserving." he said about the record.

The Blades set the previous record back in 1988.

Defenseman Darren Dietz said he's proud of his team.

"That's what makes it so special," said Dietz. "We've had a little bit of a roller coaster ride and we've worked so hard to get to this point and I'm really excited for the group."
