Reward offered in Sask. missing-person case

After more than three years of fruitless searching, the family of a missing Saskatchewan woman is putting up a reward for information about her disappearance.

Danita Bigeagle was last seen in the 800 block of Victoria Avenue in Regina on Feb. 11, 2007.

She was 22 when she went missing but would be 26 now.

Police said the mother of two rarely left the city and was often seen in the downtown area.

Bigeagle's mother, Diane, said Sunday that she's offering a $10,000 cash reward for any tips that lead to answers about what happened to her daughter.

"Hopefully, it'll give us a lead or it'll make somebody come forward and let us know where this girl is. Because she's been gone for 3½ years. My family needs closure," she said.

"This is hard on us and her two children. I don't know if they knew she had children, but it's hard on us because they ask me every day, you know, 'where's mom, where's mom.' "

Diane Bigeagle is adamant that her daughter didn't abandon her family.

"Somebody took her. Somebody did something to her, and I know somebody knows something out there," she said. "If somebody were to come forward, I think I could forgive that. But if they don't come forward, they'll rot in hell. And I'll hate them for that."

Danita Bigeagle is described as aboriginal, five feet six inches tall and weighing 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and the last time she was seen, her hair was black, straight and short.

She has a tattoo of a happy face and the letter "D" on the web of her left hand. Police also said she had four small scars on her forehead.
