Regina police seize nearly 12 kg of fentanyl, meth in $900K drug bust
2 people charged after traffic stop, search of home turns up drugs

Two people have been charged with drug trafficking after Regina police seized nearly 12 kilograms of what's believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl after a traffic stop and search of a home.
On Thursday, the Regina Police Service's drug unit pulled over a vehicle on Highway 1, near Pense, about 25 kilometres west of the city.
Officers found about 6.3 kilograms of what's believed to be fentanyl, four kilograms of a substance believed to be methamphetamine and $1,355 in cash inside the vehicle, police said in a Friday news release.
Two milligrams of pure fentanyl — roughly the size of four grains of salt — can be a lethal dose, according to police.
A 60-year-old man and 50-year-old woman in the vehicle were arrested without incident, Regina police said.
A home on the 2000 block of Argyle Street, in Regina's Cathedral neighbourhood, was also searched the same day, police said.
According to police, officers found:
- More than 1,500 cartons of contraband cigarettes.
- Approximately 1.2 kilograms of a substance believed to be methamphetamine.
- About 224 grams of a substance police believe is cocaine.
- $2,300 in Canadian currency.
- Five guns and ammunition.
Regina police valued the seizure at about $900,000.
Both people are charged with drug possession with the purpose of trafficking. The 60-year-old is also facing other charges, including possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The two made their first appearance in court on Friday morning.
