The Scarth Street Mall took on a western theme over lunch on Tuesday
Regina's Scarth Street Mall was transformed into a western theme complete with cows, horses and and a barbecue cook-off as the Agribition announced another $4 million in funding for its new buildings at Evraz Place.
The Regina Hotel Association announced it will pitch in $3 million for the International Trade Centre, while the Canadian Western Agribition itself will put in another $1 million.
"New facilities will provide stability for our livestock exhibitors and for our show," said CWA President Stewart Stone in a release.
The International Trade Centre is set to replace the aging buildings at Evraz Place. The federal, provincial and municipal governments have already commited $33 million dollars to spruce things up on site.
The barbecue cook off took place over the lunch hour today, with seven Regina restaurants taking part including Crave, Leopold's Tavern and Flip Eatery & Drink.
Cowboys, hay, live cattle and horses also lined the downtown pedestrian walkway.
