A bilingual nursing program could be offered by the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Polytechnic as early as September 2018.

The joint faculty of nursing will partner with La Cité, the francophone college at the U of R.

The program would house seven bilingual students who will study in the Saskatchewan collaborative Bachelor of Science in nursing program. Half of the classes will be taught in French and half in English.

In the final year, a French immersion program is planned for students.

Right now, the program is awaiting federal approval and funding, but in anticipation, two bilingual professors have been hired and will start working within the faculty next month.

If federal funding is approved, students will hopefully be able to register for classes in October.
