AJ Scales, 39, is a leader, motivator, and inspiration to young martial arts athletes in Saskatchewan.

AJ is more than just a respected Jiujitsu Nova Unaio black belt competitor. He is a leader whose love of the sport of Jiujitsu transcends to his love of helping people help themselves.

AJ has been an inspirational coach on and off the mat. In years past, he has helped young aboriginal athletes obtain the highest rankings in Saskatchewan. His involvement in helping with legitimizing the sport of both MMA and Jiujitsu in Saskatchewan helps bring recognition of these popular sports.

He is also heavily involved with shaping the next generation of Jiujitsu practitioners teaching the values of positive self esteem, integrity, dedication, and hard work. AJ has created a variety of jiujitsu and grappling events here in Saskatchewan for both kids and adults. Notably: Copasask, Queen City Open, and the Western Kids Open. All are avenues to bring the spirit of sportsmanship and competition to the prairies.
