Rumours that Live with Regis and Kelly will shoot on location on Prince Edward Island this summer made it to the floor of the P.E.I. legislature Wednesday.

CBC News has tried unsuccessfully for weeks to confirm the rumours that the show is interested in connecting with Keith Urban and Taylor Swift at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. Opposition MLA Jim Bagnall claimed to have information about the visit in question period.

"There's been rumours floating around that you are spending three quarters of a million dollars this summer to bring in Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa," Bagnall said to Tourism Minister Robert Vessey.

"My department is always in negotiations trying to do great things for the province," Vessey responded.

"At this time I don't have anything to announce. If I do there will be a time for that."

"Obviously you're bringing them in because you would have said no if you weren't," Bagnall said.

He then went on to criticize the minister for spending big money on celebrities instead of on programs for Islanders.
