'It's always a treat': Islander home to play with National Arts Centre Orchestra
'This time is different and extra special'
A P.E.I. musician with the National Arts Centre Orchestra is returning to her home stage Monday night.
Julia MacLaine plays cello and is travelling with the orchestra for its Canada 150 tour. It includes major concerts from coast to coast during the spring and fall of 2017.
MacLaine said she's glad to be back playing for a P.E.I. audience.
"It's always great. It's always a treat," she said.
"I would say this time is different and extra special, because normally when I'm back on P.E.I. it's for chamber music or recital or some kind of a concerto with the orchestra, but I've never been there with an orchestra, so it will be really nice to be back at Confederation Centre."
MacLaine said she'll be thinking of her former teacher and well known conductor John Clement, who died recently.
The Confederation Centre concert begins at 8 p.m.
