Grade 4 students write cards of welcome for newcomers to Canada

A grade 4 French immersion class in Tignish wrote welcome messages on postcards for Syrian refugee children arriving in Canada this week.

Most of Corinne Kenny's 22 students didn't know anything about Syria, why millions of people have had to flee, or why some refugees are coming to Canada.

The nine- and 10-year-olds are pleased knowing their messages will help make the refugees' start in Canada a little sweeter, letting them know Canadians are happy to have them here.
