Man's claim sex acts were parent's 'job' rejected by judge
Man found guilty of sex crimes against 3 young daughters of former partner
A P.E.I. man was found guilty Tuesday of sex crimes against the three daughters of his former partner.
Supreme Court Justice Gordon Campbell determined the man was guilty of eight of the nine counts he faced, including assault and sexual assault.
In handing down the decision, Campbell rejected the man's claim that what he did was just part of the "job" of being a parent.
Campbell said he found it "incredible and unbelievable" that the man claimed he was just being a good dad when he performed so-called "checkups" on the children.
Campbell also said the man's testimony "seemed very rehearsed."
All three girls were under the age of 16 during the years the assaults took place.
At trial last fall, all three girls testified the incidents took place at home and said the man would enter their bedrooms and touch their genitals, claiming he was checking for infection and inflammation.
They testified he also pretended to rape them to teach them how to protect themselves.
The man testified their mother instructed him to do the so-called checkups as part of his household duties.
He denied any wrongdoing, and suggested his former partner and her children had conspired against him.
The man showed no emotion to the guilty decision.
He returns to Supreme Court in September for sentencing.
