A little Disney Magic is coming to Charlottetown harbour
Charlottetown has been working to attract Disney Cruise Line for years
A cruise ship's horn will play out the tune of When You Wish Upon a Star in Charlottetown's harbour for the first time in the fall of 2017.
The Port of Charlottetown has announced the Disney Cruise Line has booked its first P.E.I. stopover.
"We are excited when we get any cruise line, but the Disney Cruise Line and the Disney brand has such brand power behind it and recognition that we are really excited to be able to welcome them here," said Corryn Clemence, business development manager with the Port of Charlottetown.
"To have those Disney characters on board the vessel coming to Charlottetown and to hear the horn on the ship play When You Wish Upon a Star, I think when we see that coming into the harbour, it is really going to be a special moment."
Work by Halifax, Saint John helped Charlottetown
Clemence said the port has been working on this for a few years and it's exciting to see it happening.
She hopes the one call by the Disney Magic, which carries about 2,400 passengers, will result in a longer term relationship with the cruise line.
She credited work already done by Halifax and Saint John with the Disney Cruise Line with helping to clear the pathway for the expansion into Charlottetown.
