Man charged with helping accused in Rose Kerwin's death
He was involved in in Kerwin's car disappearing, police say

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they've charged a 65-year-old man from Ottawa with helping people accused of murdering Rose Kerwin, whose body was found in the Mississippi River near Pakenham in 2023.
Rose Kerwin, 50, was last seen alive in Carleton Place, Ont. and reported missing on Nov. 13, 2023 one day after her body was found in the river.
In December 2023, police arrested and charged Marcel Lapensee, 56, from Carleton Place, Ont., and 23-year-old Samantha Osborne from Iroquois, Ont., with first-degree murder in connection to Kerwin's death.
OPP said Thursday they had arrested Wayne Gerald Smith Wednesday and charged him for the role he played in disposing of the victim's car, which police say they are still searching for.
He faces a charge of being an accessory after the fact to murder.
An accessory after the fact is someone "who, knowing that a person has been a party to the offence, receives, comforts or assists that person for the purpose of enabling that person to escape," according to the Criminal Code of Canada.
