Environment Canada says to expect a snowy Monday night and Tuesday around Ottawa-Gatineau, most of all west and north of the capital.

Snowfall warnings remain across western Quebec, in northern Ottawa and in most of Renfrew County. Advisories about the snow sit south of Ottawa.

The snow was generally expected to start Monday evening and end Tuesday afternoon. Ottawa's main airport had three centimetres of snow by midnight, though by sunrise not all of it was appearing to stick to the ground.

There are no widespread school bus cancellations Tuesday.

Close to 10 more centimetres of snow was forecast for Ottawa at 4 a.m. Tuesday and five to 10 more centimetres was expected under the advisory at 6:30 a.m.

Western Quebec's snowfall warning predicts 15 to 20 centimetres of snow total and does not focus on wind.

There are no alerts further south for communities such as Brockville or Kingston.

Colder temperatures are also forecast Monday night and Tuesday: an overnight low of –10 C in Petawawa and daytime high around –3 C Tuesday there and in Ottawa.

The average daytime high this time of year is 9 C.
