Ontario Votes 2025: Bay of Quinte
PC MPP Tyler Allsopp, challengers running for 2nd time in 5 months
Bay of Quinte sits in eastern Ontario's southwestern corner, containing Prince Edward County, Quinte West (including CFB Trenton) and southern Belleville. The riding was created in 2015.
Progressive Conservative Todd Smith won the seat for the fourth time in 2022 before resigning for a job in the energy sector.
Former Belleville city councillor Tyler Allsopp then held it for the PCs in a byelection, winning nearly 39 per cent support and topping the Liberals by about 2,000 votes.
Six candidates are running for the seat. Nominations closed Feb. 13.
Voting is now possible at local election offices. Advance voting locations are open Feb. 20-22. Voting day is Feb. 27. Elections Ontario has more information on the range of voting options.
Tyler Allsopp, PC
Allsopp has spent his short time at Queen's Park as parliamentary assistant for long-term care.
Before his time in politics, he owned and ran Doug's Bikes in Belleville.
Lori Borthwick, Green
The former Belleville respiratory therapist returns after running in the 2024 byelection.
Nick Maddison, Ontario Party
Maddison works for a manufacturing business in Kingston.
Dave O'Neil, Liberal
A city councillor in Quinte West's Trenton ward, he's an accountant and son of former local Liberal MPP Hugh O'Neil, who served from 1975 to 1995.
Amanda Robertson, NDP
Robertson, a Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board trustee, is back as the New Democratic candidate after also running in the byelection.
Anthony Zambito, New Blue
The carpenter and landscaper has also worked in sales and customer service.
