Liberal incumbent John Fraser took home nearly 40 per cent of the votes in the 2018 election.

The Progressive Conservative and NDP candidates finished neck and neck with each other, at 29 and 27 per cent respectively.

The Green Party candidate finished fourth with just over three per cent of the vote.

The race in Ottawa South features eight candidates.

The Liberal candidate was first elected as an MPP in 2013 in a byelection.

He is married to his high school sweetheart and has three grown children and three grandchildren.

Morgan Gay, NDP

The NDP candidate has lived in Ottawa South for 15 years with his wife and two daughters.

He serves as the secretary for the Alta Vista Community Association and is a member on the Billings Estate Historical Site and Heron Emergency Food Centre boards.

Martin Ince, New Blue

The New Blue candidate was born and raised in Ottawa, is a father of three and works as a bus driver.

He has worked in the oil and gas and construction industries as well.

Daniel Thomas, Independent

His focus is on better wages and price controls and increased public and affordable housing.
