More potential measles exposures in Kingston, Belleville
Sites include school, restaurant and train from April 2 to 7

The health unit for Kingston and Belleville, Ont., is warning people at a high school, restaurant, medical clinic and on a Via Rail train earlier this month they may need to take action against a potential measles exposure.
The South East Health Unit said in a Thursday news release it had confirmed a new measles case unrelated to previous cases in the area.
People in the following places may have been exposed to the highly contagious, potentially serious illness:
- Nicholson Catholic College in Belleville Wednesday, April 2 to Friday, April 4 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Car 3 of Via Rail's train 66 from Belleville to Kingston from 5:10 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 4
- The Tim Hortons at 661 Cataraqui Woods Dr. near Gardiners Road in Kingston from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5.
- Centennial Family Physicians at 2437 Princess St., in Kingston, including its LifeLabs service centre, from 3 until 5:35 p.m. Monday, April 7.
The health unit lays out a range of responses based on age, health, vaccination status and whether a person has symptoms such as a rash, irritated eyes, a fever or cough. The best protection is getting vaccinated, it said.
Ontario is in a measles outbreak, with more than 800 cases as of the latest weekly update from Public Health Ontario.
Fifty-eight cases are in the South East Health Unit, which is 22 more than last week.
Ontario had no more than 22 cases a year from 2013 to 2019, according to the province.
The South East Health Unit is a merger between the health units for Hastings and Prince Edward counties, Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox and Addington counties and Leeds, Grenville and Lanark counties.
