Victim ID'd after fatal stabbing near ByWard Market

Ottawa police are investigating the city's 13th homicide of 2017 after a man was stabbed to death early this morning near the ByWard Market.

Ottawa police are investigating the city's 13th homicide of 2017 after a man in his 40s was stabbed to death early Saturday morning near the ByWard Market.

Police were called to a stretch of King Edward Avenue between Murray and York streets at around 5 a.m.

The man was taken to hospital, police said, where he was pronounced dead. He was identified Sunday as 45-year-old Adrian Johnson.

The Ottawa Police Service's major crime unit is investigating the incident.On Saturday they had closed off the main entrance to the nearby Shepherds of Good Hope.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the major crime unit. Police are still searching for suspects.
