Driver killed on 417 after walking onto highway

A driver walked onto Highway 417 after "entering the median" near the Anderson Road interchange in east Ottawa Tuesday morning and was struck and killed by another vehicle, according to police.

A driver was struck and killed while walking on Highway 417 in east Ottawa Tuesday morning, according to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The unnamed victim walked onto the highway after "entering the median" in their vehicle near the Anderson Road interchange around 4:30 a.m., police said.

The highway was closed eastbound between Anderson and Boundary roads until around 8:45 a.m.

The crash happened about 15 kilometres southeast of the downtown core.
