Ottawa police are asking the public for help tracking down the occupants of a vehicle involved in a suspected "deliberate" hit and run in Orléans last month.

Police said a white sedan struck a female pedestrian on Clendenan Crescent near Glandriel Crescent around 4:40 p.m. on Jan. 19. The vehicle left the scene. The victim was not seriously injured, police said.

According to police, witnesses reported seeing at least two male occupants of the vehicle laughing at the victim before driving away.

"There is reason to believe it may have been a random but deliberate act," police said.

The car is described as a white 2011-2018 Volkswagen Jetta with tinted windows and aftermarket mudflaps or fender modifications. The licence plate is believed to include the letters BVL or BLV.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has dashcam or security footage, is asked to contact police. Anyone who has noticed a similar vehicle in the area or has had a similar experience is also asked to contact police.

The collision happened near the intersection of Trim and Innes roads, about 20 kilometres east of the downtown core.
