Carly Rae Jepsen, 'pyro-musical display' to ring in 2017 on Parliament Hill
Acadian hip-hop duo Radio Radio, country singer Brett Kissel also to perform

Parliament Hill will be ringing in the new year — which just happens to be Canada's 150th birthday — with fireworks, Olympic athletes, and a performance by Juno-winning pop star Carly Rae Jepsen.
The festivities will get underway at 7 p.m. on Dec. 31 with a Peace Tower carillon concert, followed by a ceremony attended by dignitaries and both Olympic and Paralympic athletes, the Department of Heritage announced Monday.
At exactly 8:17 p.m., there will be a "spectacular pyro-musical display" featuring fireworks launched simultaneously from Parliament Hill, the Alexandra Bridge and Nepean Point.

The fireworks will be set to music that will "revisit different historical eras of our country over the past 150 years," the department said.
Acadian hip-hop duo Radio Radio will take the stage at 9 p.m., followed by Alberta country singer Brett Kissel at 10 p.m.
Then, Jepsen — whose song Call Me Maybe won the 2013 Juno for Single of the Year and was also nominated for a Grammy Award — will close out the night, followed by the New Year's Eve countdown to 2017 and the traditional fireworks display.
Ottawa is set to host a number of high-profile events during Canada's sesquicentennial, including the Juno Awards, Canada's first round Davis Cup matchup, and the 105th Grey Cup.
