Canada Votes 2025: Prescott-Russell-Cumberland

Losing North Glengarry is one of the changes in the former Glangarry-Prescott-Russell. Another is that former Liberal MP Francis Drouin is not running again.

This is one of the local ridings without an incumbent

The former Glengarry-Prescott-Russell has a bit more of Ottawa, a lot less of Glengarry County and is one of the very few local ridings without an MP running for re-election.

North Glengarry moves to Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry under the regular independent boundary review that followed the 2021 census.

In its northwestern corner, Prescott-Russell-Cumberland absorbs more of the former township and current Ottawa community of Cumberland, including communities south of the Prescott-Russell trail and people living east of Cardinal Creek.

That expansion moves voters over from Carleton and Orléans.

The only riding in Ontario that's majority francophone, Prescott-Russell-Cumberland runs from rural east Ottawa to the Quebec border.

It has mostly been Liberal, but went Conservative under Pierre Lemieux in the Stephen Harper years.

Liberal Francis Drouin said last summer he was losing his passion for politics and would not run in 2025.
