Osprey nest knocks out power to 1,200 in Eastern Passage

An osprey nest atop power line equipment is being blamed for plunging 1,286 Nova Scotia Power customers in to the dark Tuesday.

No ospreys were injured

Two ospreys are nesting on a 18-metre platform on the north side of the Bow River just east of Crowchild Trail.

An osprey nest atop power line equipment is being blamed for plunging 1,286 Nova Scotia Power customers in to the dark Tuesday. 

Hundreds of people in Eastern Passage were without power Tuesday morning after an osprey nest interfered with power line equipment. 

The utility said no ospreys were injured. 

NSP had customers reconnected shortly before 9 a.m.
