N.S. SPCA asking for public's help after three kittens found in Halifax mailbox
A five-month-old and two six-week-old kittens found in Halifax mailbox on Monday
The Nova Scotia SPCA is seeking the public's help after it says three kittens were found in a mail-drop bin outside 76 Regency Park Dr. in Halifax earlier this week.
Kevin Strooband, the SPCA's deputy chief inspector, says it's believed the kittens were deliberately placed in the mailbox over the weekend.
"It was the Canada Post employee who was emptying the box as part of his routine and found three kittens inside the box," Strooband told CBC News. "They told us it was last emptied on Friday, so they had been in there all weekend."
Strooband says the kittens sustained minor injuries on their paws, presumably from trying to scratch their way out of the box.
The three kittens are now in the care of the SPCA.
Animal protection inspectors are investigating, the SPCA said in a news release, and are asking members of the public who may have information about the incident, the cats and their ownership, or who may have seen anyone in the area from Aug. 9 to the morning of Aug. 11 to call 1-888-703-7722 or email [email protected].
