A Nova Scotia man charged with manslaughter in the death of two-year-old Antonio Pinch has been found not guilty.

A Nova Scotia man charged with manslaughter in the death of two-year-old Antonio Pinch has been found not guilty.

Adam States, 28, was acquitted Thursday in Kentville provincial court.

Judge Claudine MacDonald said she wasn't convinced that States was the only one with the opportunity to hurt Pinch, his girlfriend's son, the Chronicle Herald reported.

The little boy was alone with States in the hours before he developed stomach pains. He died the next day on May 8, 2010.

MacDonald said there was no definitive proof of exactly when Pinch was fatally injured, the newspaper said.

The trial heard that Pinch's injury could have been caused by a car crash, fall from a roof or an assault.
