The Nova Scotia government has announced the creation of a team to provide advice on how to attract and to keep doctors in the province.

Health Minister Leo Glavine said the Physician Recruitment and Retention Action Team will provide advice and recommendations on how to improve programs and strategies for the recruitment and retention of physicians.

The immediate priority will be to develop a tuition relief program for medical graduates.

The 11-member team to be headed by Dr. Celina White includes doctors, health administrators, a member of the public and Colchester mayor Bob Taylor.

The team is expected to submit a report with recommendations to Glavine in the spring.
