5 reasons to get outside in February in Nova Scotia
African Heritage Month, sports and music are just a few of the things to take part in
We know: baby, it's cold outside! And at times, the weather is more frightful than delightful. But it's not all that hard to find things to love about February in Nova Scotia. Here are five reasons to get out of the house.
African Heritage Month
Learn about and celebrate Nova Scotia's rich African heritage through art, music, talks and more. There are events planned across the province, from now until the end of the month.
Ski options — and they’re not all downhill
Ski Martock and Ski Wentworth are both open daily and offer a mix of cross country and downhill trails to enjoy. Cross Country Nova Scotia has a guide to public cross country trails across the province.
Skate
There is nothing that makes you feel more like a proud, hardy Canadian than skating into the wind at the Emera Oval when the windchill is -15. Bundle up. There are public skates every day. A great new change is that during family skates, you can take strollers onto the ice, with some conditions (of course).
Hockey Day in Canada
The event celebrates the game we love and it’s happening in Halifax this year from Feb. 11 to 15. You can meet hockey personalities Don Cherry and Ron MacLean, or even take in a Halifax Mooseheads game. There is also a hockey-themed concert taking place.
Music
Bryan Adams plays the Scotiabank Centre on Feb. 18. You'll find David Myles and Symphony Nova Scotia performing together Feb. 6 and 7. The symphony will be putting on a show called Music of the Oscars Feb. 20 and 22. If you’re looking for something with more beats per minute, check out Waka Flocka Flame with Neon Dreams, J-Bru, GQNUMBERONE and DJ IV at the Marquee on Feb. 13.
