Whitehorse approves $500K tax rebate for builder
Whitehorse city councillors have approved a major development incentive for a downtown builder.
The incentive package is the largest the city has negotiated to date

Whitehorse city council has approved a "major development incentive" for a downtown builder.
Owners of a mixed-use office building going up at 303 Alexander St. will get up to $500,000 in tax rebates over the next 10 years. The agreement includes major improvements to the city-owned boulevard along Alexander Street.
The four-storey building will include underground parking, three floors of government offices and six condominium units.
The half-a-million dollar incentive package is the maximum allowed under the policy and the largest the city has negotiated since it was implemented in 2011.
