Arizona man missing after pickup truck slides into Yukon River near Whitehorse

Yukon RCMP are still searching for a missing man after a pickup truck pulling a trailer missed the Lewes River Bridge south of Whitehorse and slid into the Yukon River early Monday morning.

Yukon RCMP are searching for a man after the pickup truck he was in went into the Yukon River south of Whitehorse early Monday morning. 

Police say two adult men were driving on the Alaska Highway before just before 7 a.m. on Monday when their truck, which was pulling a trailer, slid into the water next to the Lewes River bridge. Both men are from Phoenix, Ariz., and were travelling south at the time. 

One of the two men escaped the vehicle and received medical treatment, said a statement from RCMP. The other remains unaccounted for.

The truck and trailer, which was carrying other vehicles, are still submerged in the river. RCMP continue to search for the missing man and are working to retrieve the submerged vehicles from the river.
