Fraser Arms shooting: Handgun seized was stolen from Yellowknife home

A handgun seized after Sunday's shooting near the Fraser Arms apartment buildings in Yellowknife was stolen from a Range Lake home last month, say RCMP. 

An AR-15 rifle, a .40 calibre Glock pistol and 2,000 rounds of ammunition were stolen from a Range Lake home March 13.

One man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Sunday following the shooting in downtown Yellowknife. Police pursued a suspect vehicle through residential streets to an industrial park; at least one parked vehicle and two police vehicles were damaged.

RCMP say they believe two people were targeted in Sunday's shooting — one man who was shot in the shoulder and another person.

Early Monday morning with help from the public, RCMP found and seized a firearm in a residential area that they believe to have been used in Sunday's shooting incident.

Police say the gun seized is the Glock pistol stolen in March.

Brendan Paul, 18, of Yellowknife, appeared in court today. He is facing two counts of attempted murder, along with several other charges related to the shooting and police chase. 

Paul is also facing a charge of breaking and entering to steal a firearm in relation to the March 13 theft.

Travis William Campbell, 26, of Langley, B.C., was also in court. He also faces two counts of attempted murder and other charges.
