New owners take over Bullocks Bistro in Yellowknife
The sale came with a few conditions: almost nothing about Bullocks can change
One of Yellowknife's most iconic restaurants has been sold.
Bullocks Bistro has been serving up fish and chips in Yellowknife's Old Town for nearly 25 years.
The beloved spot is known as much for its food as it is for its unique atmosphere — the inside of the restaurant is plastered with photos of friends and customers, and servers often like to dish up a bit of sass.
"Both my wife and I are 58 and while we still have our health we'd like to take some time and do some travelling and take a bit of a break," said Sam Bullock, the restaurant's now former owner.
The sale came with a few conditions, though: almost nothing about Bullocks can change — an obligation the new owners said they're happy to meet.
"That's what Bullocks is right? It's the fish, it's the sauce, it's the fries, it's everything," said Mark Elson, who bought the restaurant with his wife, Jo-Ann Martin.
But there is one change the new owners are planning: the restaurant will now be open year-round.
