Whitehorse woman offers reward for return of stolen amethyst geode
The geode weighs about 100 pounds, is two-and-a-half feet tall and 1 foot wide
A business-owner in Whitehorse is desperately hoping for the return of a prized rock, after her store was broken into twice last month.
Rhea Girouard has owned the Porter Creek Indoor Garden Centre for the past 17 years, but this is the first time she's ever had to deal with a break-in.
While a number of items were stolen, Girouard is most upset about a large, dark purple amethyst geode that was swiped off the counter.
Originally from Brazil, the geode "weighs approximately 100 pounds, is two-and-a-half feet tall and one foot wide," says Girouard.
Despite its size, Girouard actually didn't notice it was missing until a customer who'd admired the stone for years pointed it out.
"She asked if I'd taken it home, and I said 'No, it's on the counter,'" remembers Girouard.
Girouard hopes its large size and distinctive appearance will make it hard for someone to sell, and is offering a "reward, no questions asked" if it's returned.
