Iqaluit's Alianait Arts Festival has launched a new app, which organizers say will make it easier for people to enjoy the festival.

"For anyone who uses a phone, it will make it easier," said the festival's executive director Heather Daley.

"Everything is there. The schedule, information on the artists, what shows they're playing and music files."

Daley said she got the idea for the app while at a conference in the south. In the past, the festival relied on paper programs, which can be a problem when there are scheduling changes.

"Now as changes happen we can update it right away on the app. It's really easy and everything is there," she said.

For Daley, the most exciting feature is that festival goers are now able to purchase tickets on the go using the app.

The free app is available for both iPhone and Android.
