Mamie Chaulk of Charlottetown, near Terra Nova National Park, crafts doll-like mummers all year long.

Chaulk says she often dressed up as a mummer as a child, and creates the figures in the style she remembers.

"I mummered with a stick [and] some of my friends might have [had] an accordion."

Chaulk also knits and sews the mummers' clothing herself.

Chaulk said she sells her miniature mummers to expatriate Newfoundlanders and Labradorians all over North America.

Everyone who has bought the mummers has said, 'I can't wait to get back to Newfoundland to do some mummering.'"

" I don't think they forgot their Newfoundland roots at all."

No two of Chaulk's mummers are alike.

"Everyone I make has a different look ... I get a great kick out of doing them."
