What a gift! Birthday card Scratch 'N Win ticket makes Paradise couple Set for Life
Paradise couple really in Paradise as they become Set for Life
Lawrence Gosse has a lot to thank his brother for this year.
For his 72nd birthday, Gosse's brother gave him a single Atlantic Lottery Set for LIfe Scratch ticket, and on March 31, Lawrence won big.
"I saw the three sets of sunglasses," Gosse said in a statement distributed by Atlantic Lottery.
"When I scratched the prize box and saw the Set for Life symbol, I knew exactly what it meant. Happy birthday to me!"
Lawrence and his wife Janette Gosse chose the lump sum payment option of $675,000, rather than $1,000 per week for 25 years.
"This win does not change us a whole lot," Janette Gosse said. "But it is wonderful that we can share with our family. For us, family is what life is all about."
For their first big purchase with their winnings, the Gosses bought a new sound system and projector for the Church of the Holy Innocents in Paradise, where Janette attends service.
The win marks the third Set for Life top prize awarded in Newfoundland and Labrador in the past 12 months.
Needs Convenience in Paradise will receive a one per cent seller's prize for selling the winning ticket.
