Evan Long found not guilty of attempted murder in Corner Brook
Long guilty on 3 other charges
A Corner Brook man has been acquitted of attempted murder after his involvement in what police called a violent attack on another man in 2023.
A 12-person jury delivered the verdict to Evan Long at Supreme Court in Corner Brook on Tuesday.
While Long was found not guilty of attempted murder, he was convicted on his other three charges — aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The RNC laid charges against Long, who was 32 at the time, in March 2023. At the time, police said a 57-year-old man had arrived at the police's Corner Brook detachment severely injured. Police believed the attack was targeted.
Long was released on conditions until his sentencing hearing on March 13.
