New view: A look inside the reno of a downtown St. John's building

If you've travelled on Duckworth Street in downtown St. John's in recent months you wouldn't be able to miss the hub of activity around a derelict building that's long sat vacant in the city.

If you've travelled on Duckworth Street in downtown St. John's in recent months you wouldn't be able to miss the hub of activity around a derelict building that's long sat vacant.

The tall building on 351 Duckworth Street, which once housed Newfoundland Telephone, has chipped paint and graffiti sprayed on its walls.

The Hardman Group is in the process of transforming the structure, now called Mix, into high-end apartments.

Halifax-based developer the Hardman Group told CBC News in September 2015 that, once completed, Mix will have units between 500-800 square feet and most have one bedroom. (Twitter: @duncanwhitcomb)

Originally slated as condos, the developers pulled back that plan as the condo market went into decline.

The building has long been vacant. Developers originally wanted to convert 345 Duckworth Street into condominiums but that plan was scrapped last year. (Twitter: @duncanwhitcomb)

Once completed, the developers told CBC last year, the apartment complex will look much the same as if it was condos: each unit is between 500-800 square feet and most have one bedroom.
